Contemporary dancer Dareian Kujawa said his final goodbyes Wednesday night after being eliminated from FOX’s So You Think You Can Dance. Both he and his dance partner, Janelle Issis, relived season 4’s popular “Dreaming With A Broken Heart” bed routine.

What did the judges have to say about the performance?

Judge and executive producer Nigel Lythgoe told Kujawa he did a great job and had “better technique than tWitch,” who first did the romantic dance routine on the fourth season of the show. Guest judge Michael Nunn of Ballet Boyz had a lot to say about Kujawa’s “lines” and his poor feet which is a constant critic to the 20-year-old dancer. Nunn also told Issis, “I found myself looking at your hair rather than the choreography.”

Though he had some big shoes to fill, Kujawa felt like “the routine last night was a really good one for me that I could connect to and show that emotion.”

Lythgoe stated that he was finally “seeing some personality” from Kujawa.

Kujawa told reporters on a press call on Thursday that he didn’t feel like he had enough time to show his personality. “I feel like I was just getting there,” he says.

“It’s weird because when you’re on the show and you get certain dances the choreographers demand that emotion,” he adds. “I felt like I was just getting there.”

Wednesday’s episode of So You Think You Can Dance was its first episode after a two-week break for the 2012 London Olympics. The top 14 was knocked down to the top 10 after four contestants were eliminated from the competition.

That wasn’t the only surprise. The final 14 contestants performed some of Mia Michaels’ popular performances to pay tribute to the frequent SYTYCD choreographer.
