MTV’S Real World: Hollywood cast member Joey Kovar was found dead Friday at a friend’s home near Chicago. An autopsy is scheduled to be performed on the former reality star’s body Saturday, the Cook County medical examiner confirms to Celebuzz.

Kovar, who also starred on VH1’s Celebrity Rehab was discovered unconscious with blood coming out of his nose and mouth, according a report by TMZ.

The Illinois native struggled with alcohol and drug abuse for years, entering rehab halfway through his season of the Real World in 2008. He also sought treatment for cocaine and ecstasy addictions through the help of Dr. Drew on Celebrity Rehab in 2010.

In a statement released to Celebuzz, an MTV Network spokesperson said: “MTV is deeply saddened to learn that Joey Kovar of The Real World: Hollywood has passed away. We offer our sympathies to Joey’s loved ones, friends and fans.”

A post dated June 1 on Kovar’s Facebook page indicated that he was headed back to reality TV in a new show “Hunks of Horror” which began filming on June 22 in Vegas. The series would film and tour in different cities to promote their movies, writing and acting in addition to all the behind the scenes and on set drama. He called the project his “newest, coolest project to date!”

On his Twitter page, he described himself as an “EX Reality Star, Musician, Song writer, Model, Actor, Professional Wrestler, Nutrition and Supplement Enthusiast, Personal Trainer, Security Guard.” His last tweet dated Thursday was “Do not let what you cannot do interfere with what you can do.”

Kovar was 29 years old.
