The 'Twilight' actor's publicity tour is smart, says expert.
Though Robert Pattinson landed his first credited acting gig in 2004, the British actor has since been slowly become one of the industry’s most sought-after and respected actors.

Not only has the 26-year-old managed to work alongside Academy Award winners such as Reese Witherspoon and Christoph Waltz, but he’s also a box office darling thanks to the highly successful — and not to mention records-shattering — Twilight franchise.

Now, Pattinson taking on a heavier role as the male lead in Cosmopolis, the newest film from critically-acclaimed director David Cronenberg.

How are critics reacting to the actor’s latest role?

So far, Pattinson has received mixed reviews. While the Huffington Post claims the “dull actor” is “reduced to a piece of furniture,” some have applauded his bone-chilling performance in the philosophical drama.

“The good news is that he’s actually good — or at least utterly believable — in Cosmopolis,” The Daily Beast’s Geoff Berkshire writes. “As young billionaire Eric Packer, Pattinson delivers a tightly controlled and impressively self-assured performance. With the performance free of the overwrought mannerisms — the weird faces, the emotional outbursts — that give his critics most of their ammunition, the biggest complaint one could have about Pattinson’s work here is that it’s too restrained.”

With a Cannes Film Festival flick under his belt, Pattinson can look for more success as Twilight’s final installment, Breaking Dawn – Part 2, hits theaters Nov. 16, 2012.
