Kristen Stewart, Robert Pattinson, and Taylor Lautner Will Not Attend ‘Twilight’ Fan Conventions
Even as Twihard anticipation builds toward the release of the final film, “Breaking Dawn — Part 2″ on November 16, the franchise’s top stars plan to sit out several opportunities to promote the movie and excite the faithful in person, as first reported by The Daily Mail , Kristen Stewart, Robert Pattinson, and Taylor Lautner are all opting out of making appearances at this autumn’s fan gatherings in Texas, Michigan, New Jersey, and California.
Fans yearning to meet the franchise actors will have to settle for various members of the Volturi and Jacob’s wolf pack pals. The biggest name planning to attend any of the conventions is Cullen family patriarch Peter Facinelli, and he’s confirmed only for the Los Angeles-area event.
Why are Stewart, Pattinson, and Lautner avoiding the fans?
The three leads haven’t given any reason why they’re not planning to attend the conventions. All three have shown up in the past, serving on a panel together at the 2010 event in Los Angeles, for instance.
Creation Entertainment, which operates the conventions, confirmed the stars’ absence with an official statement. “Although Rob, Kristen and Taylor will not be with us this time out we will have a super line-up of other ‘Twilight’ stars and the weekend will be filled with special events, movie prop and costume displays, contests, panels, auctions, parties, exclusive merchandise, music and much more, including some surprises! “
Celebuzz asked Creation to elaborate on the reasons behind the stars’ absences, and on whether fans had expressed disappointment or bought fewer convention passes as a result, but a spokesperson declined to comment beyond the initial statement.
Of course, given the ongoing real-life heartache between Stewart and Pattinson over her having cheated on him with her “Snow White and the Huntsman” director Rupert Sanders, it’s no wonder that all three of the actors, even Lautner, would rather keep a low profile than have to talk about the scandal in public or directly to fans.
The conventions begin this weekend in San Antonio, followed by events in Detroit (Sept. 29 and 30), Parsippany (October 5-7), and Burbank (November 3 and 4).
