Joan Rivers had a few interesting words for Rihanna on Friday night, nearly one week after the singer’s revealing interview with Oprah Winfrey, in which she admitted she still loved ex-boyfriend Chris Brown.

“Rihanna confessed to Oprah Winfrey that she still loves Chris Brown. Idiot! Now it’s MY turn to slap her,” Rivers, 79, wrote on Twitter.

“Honey, @Rihanna, everyone knows: If he hit you once, he’ll hit you again. Read the statistics,” she continued, before also inviting the singer to appear on Fashion Police.

How did Rihanna react?

Rihanna, 24, was quick to respond, posting an excerpt from Proverbs 15:4 on her Instagram account.

“CONTROL YOUR SPEECH! #devotionnavy,” the singer wrote, highlighting two lines from the book.

Rihanna also wrote “Slap on some diapers” on Twitter, but it’s unclear whether or not that was also directed at Rivers.

Last Sunday, Rihanna appeared on Oprah’s Next Chapter, where she candidly spoke about the 2009 assault that took place one night before the Grammys. Brown, now 23, pleaded guilty to the assault charge and completed six months of community service and five years of probation.

“I think that he was the love of my life . . . he was my first love and I see that he loved me the same way,” Rihanna told Winfrey in the interview.

“It’s awkward because I still love him,” Rihanna said of her current “friendship” with Brown.

“My stomach drops, and I have to maintain this poker face and not let it get to the outer part of me,” she added.

All eyes will be on Rihanna next Sunday, when the annual MTV Video Music Awards are handed out. Up for five awards, the “We Found Love” singer is also scheduled to perform on the show.

Brown, meanwhile, is nominated for three awards, including Best Male Video. No official word yet on whether Brown will actually be at the event, despite recent speculation that two will reunite on stage alongside Rihanna's former rumored fling, Drake.

A man who loves you doesn't beat you. I don't love rapists, drug dealers, murderers, or pimps and I certainly don't love men who wap women in the face and force them to obtain surgery. He could have seriously derailed her career and caused permanent physical, mental, and emotional damage. He needs to be put in a facility and kept there.

  • Katie

He felt the same way??! If someone loves you they don't beat the crap out of you. And YES she is an idiot for still having feelings for him. Actually, she is an idiot for many, many reasons.

I'm sorry but Joan Rivers needs to shut up and mind her business. Clearlly she didn't listen to the whole entire interview. All Rihanna basically said was that she still loved Chris because he was her first love and it's hard to just turn of your fellings. At no any point in the interview did she say what he did to her was ok or that she was interrested in getting back in a relationship with him and continuing to be his punching bag. So Joan need to keep her mouth closed if he doesn't know the whole story.

basically to me, this stuff is not worth talking about or reporting. there other better things to be discussing than 'oh yeah she said that and oh umm i said this'!!!!

  • Louise

to be honest i think all this celeb stuff is all B.s like the whole KIm K and Angelina thing.. now the joan rivers/ri.ri thing.. this isnt what i call entertainment.. so what if joan rivers commented and so what if rhianna got annoyed.. WHO SHOULD CARE!!

  • Hatsumi

Joan River you are obnoxious loudmouth, keep your mouth shout, things that come of your mouth don't have to...keep it to yourself and you are Ill mannered, Rihanna incident and Cotco incident, you are old without getting wiser...

I am a 45-year-old businessman. I own 2 businesses. Life is busy but I still feel lonely. I’ve been living alone since my wife passed away 2 years ago. Maybe I should get going. My friends suggest l take a try on ( rίch hοοk μρ cοm ) so I got a profile there under “denver45”. I would like to meet a quality woman to make my life more adventurous. If you are interested, maybe you can come to say hi.

she isn't needy you idiot, ffs. how stupid can you yourself be? just because she still loves him doesnt make her needy. doesnt matter if someone has ended their relationship with their partner, they still have their partner forever in their hearts, so i think the real question for you is: do YOU even know what love is? moron. ciao x

Love is of varying degrees, it is a being within it's self , only a few of us ever truly experience it to the fullest. Most of us care but we don't love, love is a sentimental feeling that comes from very deep within , and when one says love doesn't hurt, it really doesn't , her ego was crushed and the whole world saw, That hurt , bruised , that hurt , but that sanctuary wasn't touched. Love dosen't need plastic surgery ,it glows.

  • appleeatingdog

Lol honey, what do you know about love? Do you even know what it is? Neediness doesn't count as love.

I think she just meant she only cares about him as a person or as a friend, not really that she wants to marry him this very second. Plus sometimes u do love & care for someone but that does not mean you want to be with them.

  • Ert

Joan Rivers is the idiot. She didn't experience it...who the hell is she to tell anyone who they can and can't love. Btw, it's not easy to just stop caring about someone you were in love with.
