Giuliana Rancic Calls New Baby Boy a 'Dream'
Giuliana Rancic welcomed her first child via surrogate Wednesday, and the E! News anchor has already taken to Twitter to gush about the baby boy.
"It's true what they say (and what u all told us) ... Bill Rancic and I couldn't love little Duke anymore than we do," she writes. "He's a dream."
Her husband also echoes the sentiments.
"G & I feel blessed beyond words ... We did it," he tweets after the birth of their son, Edward Duke.
The couple, who wed in September 2007, struggled to conceive for four years. While preparing to get pregnant through in vitro fertilization, Giuliana discovered she had breast cancer in August 2011.
The 37-year-old underwent a double mastectomy in December.
"I’ve been given a second lease on life. I’m very lucky," she told Celebuzz after her surgery. "I got a raw deal in 2011, but it’s okay because I have a lot to be thankful for. I have an amazing husband, great family and friends. I’m very lucky … and we’re both happy to move on from all of this."
As for her family's newest addition, Giuliana says he'll be raised in her 41-year-old husband's homebase of Chicago.
"I’ll do maternity leave in Chicago, then come back to L.A. where my work is every day," Giuliana says.
"But with our TV show [Ready for Love], Bill has work here too, so that’s been keeping him in L.A. But once our son gets old enough to go to school, we’d like to raise him in Chicago. Eventually, Chicago, yes."
