It looks like Live! made a good choice in choosing Michael Strahan to be Kelly Ripa’s co-host. The footballer’s first official appearance gave the talk show a 24 percent boost from last year’s season premiere. In fact, the show scored its second highest rating since the departure of Regis Philbin and it’s highest ratings for the day after Labor Day in nine years. [Deadline]

Who will play Marnie’s mom on HBO’s Girls?

We’ve met Hannah’s (Lena Dunham) parents on HBO’s hit show, Girls, now it’s time to meet the mother of her former roomie. Marnie’s (Allison Williams) mother will be played by Rita Wilson. The Frasier actress and wife of Tom Hanks has already begun filming her role. [Hollywood.com]

Kate Del Castillo of Weeds will embody the Weeping Woman in the Halloween episode of NBC’s fairy tale based drama, Grimm. The episode, entitled “La Llorona,” focuses on a woman named Maria who tearfully wanders the earth looking for the ghosts of children she killed after killing herself. [THR]

Chuck Lorre, executive producer and writer of The Big Bang Theory and Two and a Half Men, has signed a four-year deal with Warner Bros. Television extending his relationship with the studio until 2016.
