The boy band sends fans into a frenzy on the red carpet.
One Direction made their much-anticipated debut on the MTV Video Music Awards on Thursday night.

With the crowd roaring with cheers, the chart-topping U.K. boy band stormed the stage belting out their hit, “One Thing.” The heartthrobs got fans on their feet in the Stapes Center as members of the U.S. gymnastics team sang along.

But the show-stopping performance wasn’t the group’s only moment of glory during the night.

The Irish-British quintet — made up of Zayn Malik, Harry Styles, Louis Tomlinson, Niall Horan and Liam Payne — also took home their very first Moonmen to place on their mantles.

One Direction won Best Pop Video, the night’s first televised award, beating chart-topping star Justin Bieber. The band also took the honor for Most Share-Worthy Video award for “What Makes You Beautiful” during the pre-awards show.
