Another tribute has been tossed into the arena — Jeffrey Wright will star as Beetee in The Hunger Games: Catching Fire.

In the second installment of the fan-favorite franchise, the Tony- and Golden Globe-winning actor will play the former Hunger Games victor from District 3 who returns to combat during the 75th Hunger Games, also known as the Quarter Quell, which pits past champions against one another. Beetee becomes known as Volts for his electronic prowess.

Wright is an acclaimed actor known for his performances in Syriana, Casino Royale, Shaft and Source Code. Next up, the veteran thespian hits the silver screen in Broken City opposite Mark Wahlberg and Russell Crowe.

With filming of the sequel scheduled to start this month, ‘Catching Fire’ castings have been flying in feverishly over the past few months.

In terms of the Quarter Quell players, Smallville actor Alan Ritchson was named as Gloss and Stephanie Leigh as Cashmere, the two tributes from District 1. Maria Howell and E. Roger Mitchell will star as District 11 tributes Seeder and Chaff, respectively. And for District 2, Bruno Gunn will star as muscle man Brutus and Meta Golding will play fierce golden-fanged Enobaria.

The newcomers join returning principals Jennifer Lawrence (Katniss Everdeen), Josh Hutcherson (Peeta Mellark), Liam Hemsworth (Gale Hawthorne), Elizabeth Banks (Effie Trinket), Woody Harrelson (Haymitch Abernathy), Lenny Kravtiz (Cinna) and Stanley Tucci (Caesar Flickerman).

The Francis Lawrence-helmed Hunger Games sequel, a Lionsgate production based on the second book in the Suzanne Collins trilogy, is expected to start shooting this month and is due in theaters November 22, 2013.

The story sees Katniss and Peeta returning home victorious after winning the gladiatorial games, only to be called back into action.

Unlike Twilight, Hunger Games actually has meaning and a message. This could be our society if the future if we aren't careful. Also, Katniss is sort of a role model to tweens and up. She shows confidence, strength, and courage. Its not just some stupid book series like Twilight where Bella just does nothing but let a werewolf and a vampire fight over her and let the vampire get her pregnant.

I think they hit the nail on the head with this one. I saw Amanda Plummer play a severely schizophrenic woman on Law & Order:SVU, and I don't mean it as an insult when I say: she can play crazy REALLY well.

Jeffrey Wright is playing Beetee, not Tony Shalhoub. Check imdb.

WOOW!! I am simply lnovig these new Kate interviews. She is so happy, kind humorous and relaxed. I love to hear her laugh!!Moments Of Pleasure . Oh God! I actually love this version even more than the original (which I love as well ). I love her singing style in this, it feels kind of free , personal and intimate . I was first shocked to hear she has taken away the chorus, but i guess it makes sense just being alive probably doesn't hurt anymore as much as it did then and the choir instead of the chorus is actually perfect Reminds me a bit of Hello Earth Thanks again!

I'll see if I can get an RSS feed that will work for Dreamwidth (though isn't DW able to import fenrids from LJ? I'll have to investigate if two RSS feeds are necessary). Right now I'm not even certain that the LJ RSS feed is set up correctly It appears to be ignoring any updates made in the last 24 hours. I know there's sometimes a lag, but this is suspicious. In the meantime, you can follow the site from Facebook to get the updates as they occur!
