Katie Holmes, Jeremy Strong Had Instant Chemistry Together, Says Former Director (EXCLUSIVE DETAILS)
The two were spotted together Sept. 4 attending the newly-opened off Broadway play “If There Is I Haven’t Found It Yet”, which is fitting considering it happens to be written by Nick Payne, who brought the actors together for another of his works just last month.
So who is the man bringing Holmes and Strong together?
Payne wrote the two-person play “One Day When We Were Young”, which Holmes and Strong starred in at the Williamstown Theatre Festival in Massachusetts in August — and British-born Strong personally requested to work with the former Mrs. Cruise, director Jenny Gersten told Celebuzz.
“Jeremy and I were talking about casting and he suggested her so I said ‘email her!’ and he did, and sent the script, she read it and agreed to do it,” said Gersten of the game plan after the original actress had to back out of the play last minute.
“The acting was very special. They were both excellent,” the director added.
And it seems the two already had an inherent chemistry considering the brief amount of time Holmes had to prep and nail her performance.
“They (only) had a few hours of rehearsal together,” Gersten revealed.
Meanwhile, Holmes is slated to put on her first New York Fashion Week runway show for Holmes & Yang Sept. 9. In a week of firsts for the actress, Holmes, 33, just made her first public appearance two days ago at the 9th Annual Style Awards since her speedy divorce from Tom Cruise, 50, in June.
So will Strong make an appearance in the fashionable audience to support Holmes’ Fashion Week debut? We’ll find out on Monday.
