When Kimmel commented on Cowell’s surprising choice Demi Lovato to join this season’s panel because he had heard she was “kind of loony,” to which Cowell replied, “I like working with loony people.”
How did Spears respond?
“Oh God, I’m great then,” the bubbly popstar quipped.
Kimmel also grilled the X Factor mastermind about the new hosts of the live shows. Cowell previously confirmed to Celebuzz that Kevin McHale and Kelly Osbourne would not be the hosts of The X Factor, so who can we look forward to taking the reigns from season 1 host Steve Jones?
All rumors seem to be pointing toward Khloe Kardashian, and Cowell admitted the E! reality star was in the running. When Kimmel criticized this decision, the stone-faced judge replied, “I think she’d do a good job.”
Cowell also confirmed that Season 2 of The X Factor will hark back to Season 1 of American Idol with two judges. “We will have two,” he said. “For sure.”
But for right now, The X Factor, as Kimmel pointed out, is all about Spears. Celebuzz’s Jethro Nededog praised the popstar for her maturity.
“It’s amazing to see the ‘Baby One More Time’ singer as an adult,” he wrote. “I’m dating myself by mentioning this, but if you compare your memories of the girl who set it off in MTV’s TRL days to the one we see on the panel now, it’s like night and day.”
