Mariah Carey Dismisses Rumors of Nicki Minaj Drama on 'American Idol' Set
No bad blood here — at least, not yet.
"How are we gonna feud in two days?" Caret said with a laugh, according to MTV. "A feud takes a little longer to spread out [than that]."
Fox announced the brand-new superstar Idol panel on Sunday, which brings Carey and Minaj together with country star Keith Urban and music industry veteran Randy Jackson. And the newly assembled gang got right down to business, kicking off Season 12 auditions at New York City's Lincoln Center on Sunday.
So did Minaj says there's any truth to the rumors of a controvery with Carey?
Minaj shared Carey's sentiment, saying it's nothing but love on the Fox show. "[We're] getting along wonderfully, darling," she said, according to the Associated Press.
Reports suggested the two pop stars were already at each others' throats during the first day of auditions. TMZ reported that when Minaj started critiquing a contestant, Carey would interrupt, causing Minaj to raise her voice in an angered effort to drown out her fellow judge.
But Carey's concern about joining the Fox talent show didn't have anything to do with possible catfights. The Grammy Award-winning artist admitted she's "never been a fan" of reality singing competitions, but realized "what this show has done for such talented artists and truly giving them careers," according to the AP.
Minaj, on the other hand, jumped at a chance to dish out a dose of reality to music industry. "I would love to be able to tell the contestants honestly and truthfully what they can really expect, and sometimes you have to tell people, 'Hey, you really might not want to be in this,'" she said.
