Emmy Awards fashion through the years.
Sure, we’re excited to find out the winners of this year’s Emmy Awards on Sunday, but what we’re really looking forward to is the red carpet — and all those gorgeous gowns.

If this year’s red carpet fashion is anything like last year’s, we can expect showstopping style from the stars of the small screen. Until then, we’ve recruited our favorite fashion designers to give Celebuzz an exclusive sneak peak at their fashion predictions for TV’s biggest night.

See sketches of the gowns designers are predicting for this year’s Emmy Awards.

David Meister, the esteemed American designer who’s dressed everyone from Sofia Vergara, 40, to Viola Davis, 47, says to expect bare shoulders and bright colors.

“The Emmys will be a star studded glamorous event as always,” Meister told us. “Think clean, simple, sexy shapes. Once again strapless will rule! Bright colors are what will look newest: bright yellow, tangerine, and red. Rose gold and soft metallics will also look fresh.”

Though Meister predicts more minimalistic styles on the red carpet this year, we’ll still see plenty of feminine touches: “Lace and beading will also be front and center,” the designer said.

No word yet on who may arrive in one of his gorgeous one-of-a-kind gowns, but Meister shared with us an exclusive sketch of a gown we might expect to see on the carpet. Complete with citrus ruffles and a mermaid flare at the hemline, we could see sexy stars Sofia Vergara or newlywed Blake Lively wearing something similar.

Richard Chai, one of Drew Barrymore’s, 37, favorite designers, shared with us a sketch of a dress fit for red carpet royalty from his recent collaboration with EFFEN Vodka. The gorgeous gown proves that sometimes the unlikeliest of inspiration can be the best kind.

“The bottle’s modern colors enabled me to conceptualize and create a beautiful gown that embodies the heart of the EFFEN brand while remaining true to my own aesthetic,” said Chai.

Chai’s gown features a nipped waist and ruched bodice to elegantly highlight a women’s décolletage – something we can definitely see Mad Men star Christine Hendricks wearing on the red carpet.

Tadashi Shoji knows exactly how to design for a woman’s figure and his laundry list of red carpet clientele is proof of his gifted design skills. Shoji’s sketches for Celebuzz show that like Meister, he’s also expecting tons of color on the red carpet — especially plenty of blues and purples. He’s also created a drop-waist cerulean gown with a lace bodice that would look amazing on lithe stars Claire Danes and January Jones.

Both Erin Fetherston and Ann Yee also predict blue-and-purple-hued gowns to be a big trend at this year’s Emmy Awards. Fetherston shared a tri-tonal gown in shades of blue from her Erin by Erin Fetherston line for a modern twist on the ombré trend. For her red carpet prediction, designer Yee went with a sultry grape-colored halter dress that would stand out on the red carpet.
