Anne Hathaway Steals the Show in Valentino: Look of the Day (PHOTOS)
Les Misérables star Anne Hathaway, 29, wowed on the red carpet at the 2012 New York City Ballet Gala Thursday night. The actress wore a custom floor-length Valentino gown that made her look statuesque.
The gown's dark floral pattern was perfect for the fall event, while the long train brought just the right amount of drama. Airy chiffon sleeves and a high neckline trimmed in lace lent the gorgeous gown a Victorian vibe.
The strong floral pattern and covered-up style could have looked matronly on the young actress, but here's why it worked...
Hathaway's grown-out pixie cut and minimal jewelry ensured the statement pattern was the main attention seeker.
The Valentino gown was far sexier than it may appear at first glance. Sheer and lace panels revealed a surprising amount of skin, making it a daring choice for the rather conservative gala at the David H. Koch Theater at Lincoln Center.
There to support her friend, legendary designer Valentino -- who did the costumes for the New York City ballet performance that evening and revealed some other news about the actress' upcoming nuptials to Adam Shulman, 31 -- Hathaway stood out from the sea of gowns in the designer's floral stunner.
