Chad Johnson Sentenced to Probation, Avoids Jail Time Under Plea Deal
Chad "Ochocinco" Johnson was sentenced to one year's probation and a counseling course Friday morning after pleading no contest to a misdemeanor battery charge involving his now-ex-wife, Evelyn Lozada.
In addition, Johnson must pay Lozada unspecified restitution, and is allowed no contact with her during his 12-month probation period. He will not spend any time in jail.
Johnson, 34, was arrested in August after he allegedly head-butted Lozada during a dispute. The couple, who were married on July 4, finalized their divorce on Wednesday.
In an interview Wednesday night, Johnson -- who was let go by the Miami Dolphins after the incident -- confessed that he is already taking anger management courses.
"Right now I need to work on Chad," he said on Inside the NFL.
