Emmys 2012: Celebrity Event Designer Kevin Lee Reveals Emmy Awards Decor Details, Talks Jennifer Aniston (EXCLUSIVE)
“Red, red, red. It’s all about the red; red roses, 200,000 roses in the ballroom. It’s quite spectacular,” gushed 2012 Emmy Awards Governors Ball event designer Kevin Lee, who spoke to Celebuzz exclusively about the extravagant decor — including 3900 hours of floral labor and 7 different arrangements.
Lee actually inspired the excessive wedding planner character in 1991’s Father of the Bride, so you can only imagine the process.
He added, “When you’re utilizing 200,000 roses and walk in to see the total ambiance, it’s just outrageous because it’s not like the other parties. All of the flowers in a row are overwhelming — all over the tabletops and the walls.”Why the choice of red?
Red is a super strong shade. It’s even on trend with fall fashion and the upcoming holidays — the color could possibly even match with celebs’ ensembles as they walk the red (yes, red, no pun intended) carpet.
The celebrity designer told Celebuzz that he may even take some of the flowers home with him after the big night — on Sunday, September 23 — because it’s hard to waste such gorgeous foliage.
Lee is definitely not new to the shrubbery scene — this being his sixth season creating fabulous arrangements for the Emmys Governors Ball.
Drum rolls for his fave star to work with…
“I love Jennifer Aniston,” Lee admitted. “She’s a romantic. She’s real. She’s not superficial. She’s natural with who she is.”
He even got the honor of planning Aniston’s wedding to former beau Brad Pitt in 2000.
Though he had no comment on planning her future wedding to Justin Theroux or Pitt’s to Angelina Jolie, he did say that he has a feeling that both Aniston and Pitt’s nuptials “will be family-oriented, romantic, beautiful, and nothing like their first one.”
Only time will tell.
