Lady Gaga Addresses Her Weight Woes: The Singer's Many Body Image Musings (GALLERY)
Lady Gaga is opening up about her expanding waistline.
The pop star — whose recent weight gain even drew pregnancy speculation from the likes of Kelly Osbourne — admitted on Sirius Radio’s Elvis Duran show on Sept. 20 that she’s packed on a whopping 25 pounds.
"I really don’t feel bad about it, not even for a second," she told Duran. "I have to be on such a strict diet constantly. It's hard because it's a quite vigorous show, so I tend to bulk up, get muscular, and I really don’t like that."
Why has she packed on weight?
"I'm a New York Italian girl. That’s why I have been staying out of New York," she said. "My father [Joe Germanotta] opened a restaurant. It's so amazing … it’s so freaking delicious, but I’m telling you I gain five pounds every time I go in there. So my dad wants me to eat at the restaurant, and I’m, like, I’ve got to go where I can drink green juice."
Now — amidst reports that her record company has demanded she slim down —the 26-year-old is on a diet to get rid of the excess weight. “I’m trying to find a new balance,” she said.
Gaga's new curvy figure is a far cry from the singer's usually pin-thin shape. And her recent Italian food indulgence is a far cry from her usually restricted diet and sweat-dripping workout regime. In April of this year, Gaga infamously tweeted, "Just killed back to back spin classes. Eating a salad and dreaming of a cheeseburger." Fans were especially turned off when she added, “pop stars don’t eat.”
