Nakoula Basseley Nakoula, the filmmaker of the anti-Islam picture Innocence of Muslims has been arrested, Deadline reports.
Nakoula, 55, is believed to be the brains behind the controversial video that was released over the summer on YouTube, sparking violent demonstrations in Egypt, Libya and other Aram and Muslim nations.
According to the site, a courtroom proceeding has been scheduled to take place Thursday afternoon at the Roybal Federal Building in Downtown Los Angeles
Nakoula, an Egyptian-born U.S. resident, reportedly went into hiding some two weeks ago after being questioned by his probation officer.
The filmmaker has been on federal probation for a 2010 bank fraud conviction, a term that required Nakoula to stay away from the Internet and all related activity.
Deadline reports that officials are still looking into whether Nakoula violated the probation when he uploaded the anti-Islam film on YouTube without permission from his probation officer.
