One Direction’s ‘Take Me Home’ Features Unusual Potential Hit from Dr. Luke

See One Direction cover an Oasis classic tune
One Direction’s sophomore album, Take Me Home, hasn’t dropped yet, but it already boasts a hit single — “Live While We’re Young” — and two tracks by British singer-songwriter Ed Sheeran.

There’s another track that’s getting some serious buzz, thanks to the hitmaker behind it. Superstar producer Dr. Luke is lending his talents to the boys’ new album, telling MTV News he just finished the final cut of the song, whose title hasn’t been divulged.

Although Dr. Luke completed the track this week without ever having met the lads in person, he seems to agree with their millions of fans. “They’re a huge phenomenon and they’re good!” he told MTV, adding that the first time he heard the song, he thought it sounded like an instant hit.

How does the tune differ from Dr. Luke’s usual pop smashes?

Unlike some of Dr. Luke’s biggest hits (Katy Perry’s “Last Friday Night,” Britney Spears’ “Hold It Against Me”), the producer describes it as a “not uptempo” track. Nonetheless, he still thinks the fans will love it.

“I was like, ‘Wow, this is so good.’ I’m pleased to be a part of it,” he said. “It’s nice when you hear music and you immediately like it.”

Take Me Home is slated to be released on Nov. 13. The record will feature the pop band’s collaborations with some of music’s biggest names. Sheeran has penned two tracks on the album, while McFly’s Tom Fletcher worked on one song with the boys. Producer Shellback and songwriter Toby Gad also have a few credits on the album, which is likely to be yet another smash hit for the pop phenoms.

In spring 2013, One Direction will begin their sold-out world tour in the U.K., which includes nine shows at London’s O2 Arena.
