'Grey's Anatomy' Fans Express Devastation Over Tragic Season Premiere

It looks like we’re not the only ones still reeling from last night’s emotional season premiere of ABC’s Grey’s Anatomy.

While we knew that the episode would be heartbreaking, as most Grey’s premieres and finales are, we weren’t quite prepared for all that went down.

Note: Spoiler alert if you didn't watch Thursday's episode, "Going Going Gone."

In case you didn’t see the episode, fan favorite Mark Sloan (Eric Dane) aka McSteamy, died in a beautiful and emotional scene surrounded by his good friends Callie (Sara Ramirez) and Derek (Patrick Dempsey). While he didn’t die at the site of last season’s horrific plane crash, he was in a coma and taken off life support per his own wishes.

Led to believe that Callie’s partner Arizona (Jessica Capshaw) died as well, we learned at the end of the episode that she was alive and well. Well, maybe not well. Arizona’s leg was amputated as a result of her crash injuries and it seems she hasn’t left her bed since. Capshaw had warned us, “No one will be happy," and boy was she right.

Meanwhile, Cristina (Sandra Oh) and Meredith (Ellen Pompeo) seem to be experiencing some post-traumatic stress and Alex (Justin Chambers) has decided to forego John Hopkins to stay at Seattle Grace.

Fans are – how should we say this – destroyed over the premiere’s death and developments. Looking through Twitter Friday, we found tons of fans still grieving and lamenting the loss of one of their favorite characters. Some are bordering on over-investment, some are targeting their anger at creator Shonda Rhimes while others are pretty hilarious.
