Oh baby, baby, indeed!
Though it's been over a decade since Britney Spears' debut single burned up the pop charts, the pop star's niece Maddie Aldridge is paying homage to "Baby One More Time."
Jamie Lynn Spears' 4-year-old daughter honored her famous aunt with an all-too-cute interpretation of Brit Brit's classic schoolgirl outfit, made famous by her 1998 smash-hit music video.
What occasion called for the throwback costume?
"Guess who Maddie want to for Celebrity Day at school #HomecomingWeek," former Nickelodeon star Jamie Lynn tweeted along with a snap of her Maddie shuffling off to school in a Brit-inspired guise.
With pom-pom-adorned pigtails, a pleated plaid skirt and a tied-up top cardigan, Maddie struck a sweet note — quite unlike Britney's more scandalous, midriff-baring style. Back in the late 90s, Brit Brit stirred up some controversy with her risqué "Baby One More Time" video, in which the then-17-year-old strutted around high school hallways in a sexed-up Catholic school uniform.
Nevertheless, the breakout single catapulted the rising pop star, now 30, to soaring success — and its video, of course, spurred many copycat schoolgirl costumes. "It was such a wonderful experience," Britney told MTV News in 2000 about filming the clip that launched her A-list career. "All these people there, working for you. I had my own trailer. It was an amazing experience."
