Cameron Diaz on Aging: 'I Feel Better at 40 Than I Did at 25' (PHOTOS)
Cameron Diaz is like wine — she only gets better with age.
So claims the actress, who crossed the big 4-0 mark in August. For Diaz, that milestone has brought nothing but joy.
"Getting older is the best part of life," Diaz told Esquire UK's November issue, on stands Oct. 4. "I feel better at 40 than I did at 25." And with age also comes wisdom: "I know more than I've ever known," she added. "I have gratitude. I know myself better. I feel more capable than ever."
Though she lives under the harsh glare of the spotlight, Diaz is not trying to chase the fountain of youth. "There's no such thing as anti-aging — it's all a crock of sh*t, you can't go back in time," she explained. "So for me, it's about living in this moment, the best that I can. Contentment is about coming to terms with life as it is, rather than getting all pissed off that things didn't fit into your little prescribed box. And it's much bigger. For the first time in my life I'm content. I'm so excited."
So what lies ahead for Diaz?
Despite her high-profile romances with Justin Timberlake and Alex Rodriguez, Diaz never has longed to be a bride. "[Marriage] just wasn’t the thing I was drawn to," she said. "I certainly didn’t want it in my twenties. Or my thirties. So we'll see." Nevertheless, "I'd always wanted to get hitched in Vegas at least three times," confessed the actress, who coincidentally tied the knot with costar Ashton Kutcher in 2008's What Happens in Vegas.
While Diaz's interest in marriage has yet to change with age, her taste in men has. "It's funny because as my girlfriends get older, I see how their relationships have evolved, and you know, the people you're drawn to changes," she said. "I'm not attracted to the same people that I was drawn to in my twenties."
And regardless of her single status, Diaz isn't ruling out motherhood. "I don't need to have the children in my life be a part of my literal flesh," she explained. "And anyway, there's still a possibility of that, I ain't that old. Believe it or not, I'm feeling very...capable."
