'American Idol' Feud: Mariah Carey Hires Extra Security After Shooting Threat, Nicki Minaj Unleashes Twitter Tirade (VIDEO)
Mariah Carey is beefing up her security staff since her altercation with fellow American Idol judge Nicki Minaj.
On Thursday's installment of The View, Barbara Walters revealed that Carey has hired extra security after Minaj, 29, was allegedly overheard by staff members saying, “If I had a gun, I would shoot a b***h," while walking away from set.
Walters, who spoke with 42-year-old Carey via phone prior to the show, went on to say that while Carey doesn’t think anything will actually happen between the two, the pop singer is concerned and not “comfortable emotionally.”
Said Walters: "Nicki said after the meeting, 'I love you but we may fight again.' Mariah said, 'No we will not.’”
What did Minaj have to say about Walters' revelations?
Not surprisingly, she unleashed a tirade on Twitter -- denying that she threatened Carey, accusing the "Hero" singer of "lies" and dissing Walters for not contacting her about the gun allegations.
"The struggle to be a victim is real in these streets. Lmaooooooooooo."
"Hey yAll. Lets just say nicki said smthn about a gun. ppl will believe it cuz she's a black rapper. Lmao. I'll then hit up Barbara n milk it."
"Ironically no camera or mic heard the gun comment tho. Lol @ the struggle. Not even the producers believed u. Say no to violence barbz."
“Barbara walters didn't reach out from our team barbz. I guess we're too dangerous. Don't shake if u don't wannA get shook!!!! LmAooooooooooo”
“I don't call tmz n Barbara Walters cuz I stand on my own two feet. Never needed an army. God is good. Insecurity is as cruel as the grave.”
Then, in tweets seemingly directed squarely toward Carey, Minaj posted:
“I guess it hurts 2 have the producers tell u to ur face that nicki is the best judge we've had since simon. Awww, poor u. Keep them lies cmn”
"I thought we resolved it yesterday but I see u want ur pity party to continue. So I'm bout to po dot tea."
"All I do is compliment u. That's not enuff? Ur a legend, cheer up. U don't have to run down ur resume or feel intimidated. Shady McGrady..."
On Tuesday, TMZ released footage of Minaj furiously cursing at Carey on the American Idol set. Host Ryan Seacrest described the “intense” and “heated” fight on his radio show Wednesday morning. Fellow judge Keith Urban told Extra that, after sitting between the dueling divas, he felt like the "UN."
