'American Idol' Feud: Cee Lo Green Says Nicki Minaj's Blowout With Mariah Carey Is 'Entertainment for Everybody'
Is Nicki Minaj's behind-the-scenes beef with Mariah Carey just a ploy to boost American Idol's declining ratings? Cee Lo Green, one of the superstar mentors on NBC's juggernaut The Voice, seems to think so.
"This is Hollywood, California," he told TMZ in West Hollywood on Thursday. "Hardly anything's legit."
When asked if he was worried about American Idol's potential ratings boost, Green told the gossip site, "I'm not intimidated. I think it's entertainment for everybody."
But what about Carey's extra onset security?
Carey, 42, allegedly beefed up her security staff since her altercation with the fellow American Idol judge.
On Thursday, The View's Barbara Walters revealed that Carey has hired extra security after Minaj, 29, was reportedly overheard by staff members saying, “If I had a gun, I would shoot a b***h,” while walking away from set.
Walters, who spoke with Carey via phone prior to the show, reported that the pop singer is concerned and not “comfortable emotionally.”
Carey was recently seen exiting an Idol photo shoot in Baton Rouge, La., with a policeman escort and extra security. During the photo shoot, Carey and Minaj appeared civil toward one another, even posing for photos together, reports TMZ.
Meanwhile, Minaj tweeted, "Haven't rlly slept in 2 days. Can't wait to go to bed now. Photo shoot was dope. ;)"
