Though Dr. Horrible’s Sing-Along Blog’s highly-anticipated sequel won’t be in production until spring, fans of the superhero musical still have the original to fall back on as the cult classic makes its TV debut on The CW this Tuesday.

Starring How I Met Your Mother’s Neil Patrick Harris and Castle’s Nathan Fillion, the miniseries revolves around an aspiring super villain (Harris) who fights his nemesis Captain Hammer (Fillion) for the women of his dreams (played by Felicia Day).

Since Dr. Horrible is making the big move from the internet to TV, Celebuzz is giving fans a refresher (and new viewers an introduction) to the famous tragicomedy.

Recently, the co-creators of the viral hit, Jed Whedon and Maurissa Tancharoen, dished about the musical’s much-awaited follow-up.

“I think if we wait any longer, people are going to be like, ‘Whatever,'” Tancharoen said during an interview with HuffPost TV. “So the plan now is to shoot the sequel in the spring.”

“It’s the firmest it’s been,” Whedon said of the shoot date. “We want it to come out five years after the first one. That’d be a nice place for it to land.”

As for the actual plot? Whedon and Tanharoen — along with Whedon’s brother Joss– have the whole thing down already.

“We have a number or songs, and we do have an outline for the whole thing — it’s just a matter of filling in some blanks,” Tancharoen added.

Catch the TV debut of the series on Tuesday at 9 PM on The CW.
