Katy Perry, Rihanna and Beyoncé: Stars With Political Nail Art (GALLERY)
Katy Perry is the latest lady to hop on the bandwagon. At President Barack Obama's star-studded 30 Days to Victory concert fundraiser on Sunday Night, the "Firework" singer tweeted a snap of her "appropriate nails," which were adorned with Obama's face, the Democratic donkey and red, white, and blue stars and stripes.
Putting her pro-Bama manicure on full display, Perry took the stage — during a line-up that also included Jennifer Hudson, Jon Bon Jovi, Earth, Wind & Fire and Stevie Wonder — to belt out Al Green's "Let's Stay Together," which the POTUS famously purred during a January fundraiser. "Today I am so honored to play for the President!" she tweeted.
What other stars have styled their tips politically?
Back during Obama's first bid for the White House in 2008, singer-rapper Eve chose change — putting a photo of the then-Chicago politician on her thumbnail.
And after he took office, Rihanna followed in Eve's footsteps. During her performance at the NFL Pepsi Smash Super Bowl Concert in 2009, RiRi sported a Obama's portrait on her pinky fingernail.Beyoncé put her die-hard patriotism on display with a stars-and-stripes manicure in her and Lady Gaga's "Telephone" music video. And her sister took it a step further, flashing ten fingers full of presidential nail art.
