“Coming out” has always been in tough in Hollywood — but nowadays, celebrities are having an easier time declaring their sexual orientation thanks to numerous campaigns — like Dan Savages’ It Gets Better — encouraging acceptance.

This year was a big year for the GLBT community as President Barack Obama officially declared his support on same-sex marriage.

“I’ve just concluded for me personally, it is important for me to affirm that I think same sex couples should be able to get married,” the Commander in Chief told ABC News on Wednesday, May 9.

Who in Hollywood has also spoke up for the gay community since then?

CNN anchor Anderson Cooper — whose sexuality has been under the microscope for years — finally came out in a letter to The Daily Beast.

“The fact is, I’m gay, always have been, always will be, and I couldn’t be any more happy, comfortable with myself, and proud,” he wrote.

Aside from receiving an outpour of warm regards to his coming out, many celebs have since followed suit.

The Big Bang Theory’s Jim Parsons and Odd Future rapper Frank Ocean also came out in 2012.
