NBC announced this week that Mockingbird Lane — its reboot of 60s cult sitcom, The Munsters — will indeed finally reach audiences. Though, not as a series as first intended, but as a Halloween Special.

The network will air the hourlong pilot from executive producer Bryan Fuller’s (Pushing Daisies, Heroes) script and directed by executive producer Bryan Singer (X-Men film franchise, House) on Friday, Oct. 26 at 8 P.M.

What can viewers expect from NBC’s Mockingbird Lane?

Mockingbird Lane stars Jerry O’Connell (The Defenders) as Herman Munster, Portia de Rossi (Arrested Development) as his wife Lily, Eddie Izzard (United States of Tara, The Riches) as Grandpa, Mason Cook (Spy Kids: All the Time in the World in 4D) as Eddie and Charity Wakefield (The Raven) as Marilyn.

The special finds the Munster family moving into 1313 Mockingbird Lane. Son Eddie is starting to go through puberty and the family tries to help him through the normal changes of any boy werewolf. Meanwhile, Herman is having some heart troubles and Grandpa gets busy trying to find the Frankenstein the right spare part.

In development for two years, the move to air the pilot as a Halloween special has been viewed as a way for the network to salvage its $10 million investment in the project.
