Tina Fey and Amy Poehler Co-Hosting 70th Annual Golden Globe Awards
Former Saturday Night Live castmates 30 Rock star Tina Fey and Parks and Recreation’s Amy Poehler will be co-hosting the 70th Annual Golden Globe Awards, which will be broadcast live on Sunday, Jan. 13 starting at 8 PM ET/ 5 PM PT from the Beverly Hilton in Beverly Hills.
“Having both Tina Fey and Amy Poehler on board to host this year’s festivities is a major coup,” Alternative and Late Night Programming President Paul Telegdy said in a statement on Monday. “Tina and Amy have a proven chemistry and comedic timing from their many years together on SNL to their successful co-starring roles in Baby Mama.”
“The unparalleled comedic timing of Tina and Amy will surely have viewers wanting to tune-in to see them in action,” Hollywood Foreign Press Association President Dr. Aida Takla-O’Reilly said. “The HFPA is thrilled to have the magnetic duo be a part of the show’s 70th anniversary!”
which broke the story — points out, Fey and Poehler formerly co-achored SNL’s comedic news segment, “Weekend Update.” They will also be only the second duo to host the awards ever.
Additionally, Fey, 42, is a Golden Globe winner while Poehler, 41, has been nominated. Fey is the executive producer, head writer and star on 30 Rock. Poehler produces and stars on Parks and Recreation.
In January, Ricky Gervais hosted The 69th Annual Golden Globe Awards, which was watched by 16.9 million viewers and won its time period for NBC against all other broadcasts, excluding sports.
