'American Idol's' Phillip Phillips Debuts Album Cover, Announces November Release
Phillip Phillips is coming to store shelves near you.
FOX's American Idol winner is poised to release his freshman studio album, The World from the Side of the Moon, on Nov. 19 — the very same day that first-ever Idol champ Kelly Clarkson is set to drop her Greatest Hits - Chapter 1.
"Hey guys, this my official album cover/title!" Phillips tweeted, along with a snap of the simple, sun-drenched cover image. "Hope you like it and my album will be released 11-19!"
What can fans expect from Phillips' debut?
"I'm excited just to tell my own stories," the soulful singer told Today's Savannah Guthrie."Maybe people will connect with it and enjoy them like I do."
Ever since taken the crown on FOX's hit singing competition earlier this year, Phillips has taken to life in the fast lane, traveling the country on the Idols Live! tour and cramming in studio sessions to lay down his first album. "Recording vocals to maybe my favorite song on the album," he tweeted on Oct. 7. "I'm ready to play some gigs after this album is done," he added on Oct. 11."Home," which earned him a platinum record plaque. After a lull on the charts, the song shot back up to No. 1 on the iTunes charts this summer thanks to prime placement on NBC’s Olympics coverage; it serves as the theme song for the U.S. women’s gymnastics team. Now the track is featured on the soundtrack of Clint Eastwood's latest movie, Trouble With the Curve.
In late August, Phillips debuted another tune, "Take Me Away," which the crooner has been performing on the road, according the The Hollywood Reporter. And Phillips has referenced a ditty called "Drive Me" in interviews. Though there is no word on whether the two tracks will be included on his highly-anticipated album.
