Khloe Kardashian and Mario Lopez Close 'X Factor' Co-Hosting Deal (EXCLUSIVE DETAILS)
Keeping Up With the Kardashians star Khloe Kardashian Odom and Extra host Mario Lopez have been circling a deal to co-host FOX’s The X Factor for months now.
Now, Celebuzz’s sources close to the production confirm that the duo have inked their contracts and will debut on the singing competition in November.
Just after 6 PM PT, our source tells us that earlier reports on Monday jumped the gun as "the deals have only just been signed by both sides in the last hour.”
The duo will earn their reported multimillion-dollar paychecks while wrangling the already well paid current judges Britney Spears (who’s making $15 million), Demi Lovato, L.A. Reid and Simon Cowell (who’s also an executive producer).sources confirmed that Kardashian was finalizing her deal and we reported that Lopez was set to join her.
Earlier that month, Cowell revealed that Kardashian was a serious contender for the gig. The executive producer told Ellen DeGeneres on her daytime show, "It could be a Kardashian. I think that would work." The snarky judge followed up by saying, "We have to find people who have a great chemistry, but Khloe is definitely up there in running."
While Cowell had previously said that he didn't want to hire replacements for Season 1's Steve Jones who had previous hosting experience, clearly he has changed his mind.
Kardashian may prove to be a very big coup for Cowell and FOX. Not only does she have a very loyal fan base from starring on seven seasons of E!'s Keeping Up With the Kardashians (along with a couple spinoff series) with two more seasons to go in her contract, but she has hosted several of her own radio talk shows over the years.
A FOX spokesperson tells us the network has no comment.
