Last week’s episodes of NBC’s The Voice brought the audience some epic battle rounds (see: Trevin Hunte and Amanda Brown dueling on “Vision Of Love”) as well as the introduction of new show concept, “The Steal,” in which a coach can give a singer from another team a second chance after they lost their battle.

The battles, thus far, have featured three entertaining and awesome steals including Brown, from Cee Lo Green’s team to Team Adam Levine; Collin McLoughlin, from Team Adam to Team Blake Shelton and Caitlin Michelle, from Team Adam to Team Cee Lo.

In a conference call with reporters, singing hopefuls Brown and McLoughlin discussed what it was like to get a second chance in the competition. Brown said, “I feel very, very blessed. It’s been an amazing ride this far and both Cee-Lo and Adam are just so unbelievably talented and have so much experience under their belt. For me, I can only say that I’m really, really excited and feeling very blessed at the moment.”

What did McLoughlin say about his experience? And how did they choose their new coaches?

Unlike Brown and Caitlin Michelle, McLoughlin had to wait a moment before the coaches decided to save him, making his experience more nerve-wracking.

“You know, I really was surprised,” said the former NYU student. “I was basically, as you could kind of see, launching into a sort of thank you speech to Adam for giving me a chance and giving me this opportunity on the show, and then to sort of have Blake but in and Cee Lo but in and sort of try to steal me was pretty amazing. I definitely wasn’t expecting it. I was definitely really happy that it happened that way.”

So how did the contestants pick their new coaches?

Brown said she hadn’t thought about it since she was really focused on staying on her own team. She told reporters, “When the opportunity did present itself and the three other coaches wanted to have me on their team, I was just trying to listen as intently as I could to what they were saying. In all honesty, what Adam said in that moment just resonated a bit more with me, which is why I kind of went with my gut feeling and chose Adam.”

McLoughlin echoed Brown’s sentiments in that he was focused to win his battle rather than thinking about who he would choose if he got the chance. However, with Shelton as the only coach who actually said he should’ve won his battle against Bryan Keith, his choice was a bit easier.

“I guess I could’ve looked at that a bunch of different ways, but in my case, “ he explained, “I thought that that sort of meant that he was committed to me and more my style of singing than perhaps Cee Lo would’ve been.”

The Voice airs Monday and Tuesday nights at 8 PM on NBC.
