Chloë Moretz Chills in ‘Carrie’ Teaser Trailer (VIDEO)

Moretz: All Grown Up
The actress stunned at the People's Choice Awards.
Chloë Moretz is bringing Carrie alive again — and it’s as bloody as ever.

The first trailer for the newest remake of Stephen King’s horror classic sees the actress in chilling form as Carrie White, a sheltered, shy, high school outcast who unleashes fiery telekinetic terror on her small town after being tormented at her prom.

And though the footage only offers a momentary glimpse of Moretz, she seems to perfectly embody the ever-creepy title character.

In the teaser for Kimberly Peirce’s highly-anticipated re-imagining of the story, an eerie melody is sung as the camera scans the barren streets of a hamlet, where blazes now engulf bushes and buildings.

“This was always such a peaceful town,” a disembodied male voice says. Another chimes in, “I don’t want to use the word conspiracy, but that’s what it’s like.” And yet another adds: “I believe something supernatural happened here. It defies logic and explanation.”

“There’s something no one seems to understand,” a female voice says as the camera glides over the burning sidewalks. “She wasn’t some monster,” she explains, as the shadowy figure of Carrie surfaces in the distance. “She was just a girl.”

Then the camera swoops in for the iconic shot of Carrie: A prom dress-clad Moretz, covered in blood. The image was first made famous by Sissy Spacek in the original big-screen adaptation of the horror novel, directed in 1976 by Brian De Palma. Of course, Spacek was 26 when she played the telekinetic teen, while Moretz, 15, is actually about the right age.

Screen Gems and MGM’s remake — which also stars Julianne Moore — hits theaters March 15, 2013.
