Leona Lewis Passes on 'We Found Love' and 9 Other Artists Who Rejected Hit Songs (GALLERY)
Did Leona Lewis "find love" before Rihanna? According to the British songstress herself, yes!
“I worked with Calvin and we recorded "We Found Love". But he went touring with Rihanna, and she ended up releasing it,” Lewis said.
So why did the X Factor winner pass on the track?
“I didn’t commit to it because I wanted "Trouble" to be my first single," she explained. "So I think that was another reason they went with Rihanna.”
However, when it comes to the two recordings, Lewis says there's no comparison. "It was the same version and production but mine’s better,” she said.
As for the song’s massive success, Lewis told the paper, “It was a bit annoying to see how big a hit it was around the world, but if I’d released it maybe it wouldn’t have done as well.”
However, even Rihanna has passed on hit songs. The Bajan beauty rejected Jordin Sparks' Top 10 single, "Battlefield," in 2009.
