Make a wish, Zac Efron!

The former Disney star turns 25 years old Thursday, capping off a project-packed year of career achievements that helped him finally shed his High School Musical image once and for all.

After shooting to fame in the Disney channel instant-classic, the ever-handsome Efron has tried his hand in many film genres, from chick-flicks (The Lucky One) to sappy romantic comedies (New Year's Eve) and heart-wrenching dramas (Charlie St. Cloud).

In the past year, the blue-eyed pretty boy has expanded his range even more.

In March, Efron voiced Teg Wiggins in The Lorax, which brought Dr. Seuss' classic children's story to life in 3D.

Now Efron is going gritty. The actor hit the big screen last week in The Paperboy, a film about a reporter who heads to his Florida hometown to investigate a case involving a death row inmate. Not only does the movie tackle a murderous plot, but it see Efron hold his own in the same frame as acclaimed actors like Nicole Kidman, Matthew McConaughey and John Cusask.

Come 2013, Efron will appear in adventure-drama At Any Price as Dennis Quaid's rebellious son in a story that follows a farming family dealing with a crisis that threatens their livelihood. And he won't stop there: Efron is lined up for Adam Shankman's Where I Leave You and the Seth Rogen comedy Townies.

So, as Efron celebrates his quarter-century birthday -- and continues to redefine his once-pigeonholed role in the film industry -- Celebuzz is looking back at the actor through the years.

What do you think was Efron's best flick? Weigh in below.
