Britney Spears Shoots ‘Fantasty Twist’ Perfume Commercial: Go Behind the Scenes (VIDEO)

Britney Spears is a chameleon.

That’s the message of her new Fantasy Twist fragrance commercial, which sees the X Factor judge channel four distinct personas, from a charming Cleopatra to old-Hollywood sex symbol Jean Harlow.

“The video is basically to show Britney with lots of different personalities,” the ad’s director has said. “Her fans, everyone sees her differently — some people see her cute, some see her sexy, like a goddess. So we’re kind of trying to make a story out of that.”

How so?

“The idea is Britney is walking down the corridor,” the director adds. “She’s in a normal outfit, but everybody who is in a room — all the different persons [sic] rush to the peep hole and they all see her in a different way. Everyone perceives Britney in a different way, and it was our idea to show Britney in the eyes of the fans. She really slips into the different roles.”

In the behind-the-scenes look of the shoot (above), Spears transforms into those roles, slipping into glitzy, goddess-like getups, dramatic wigs and transformative makeup. And then she brings the characters to life.

“With Cleopatra, she was giving us the eyes,” says the director. “[With] the more sexy Barbarella type…she was strutting down the corridor, and now we have the flapper girl with lots of fringing going on, so I’m really looking forward to filming that part.”

Fantasy Twist is Spears’ eleventh Elizabeth Arden perfume, combining two of her most popular scents — Fantasy and Midnight Fantasy — in a single spherical bottle. This the star’s latest release in her long-line of fragrances, which also include Curious, Curious: In Control, Believe, Hidden Fantasy, and Radiance, among others. And it’s an empire that has pulled in big bucks for Spears: Since her fragrance debut in 2004, she has sold approximately one billion bottles of perfume, grossing an estimated$1.5 billion.
