'RoboCop': New Footage From the Set of the Cyborg Hero Riding a Motorcycle (VIDEO)
The new RoboCop in the forthcoming remake looks unusually streamlined, so perhaps he needed a more streamlined ride, too.
Filling the bill is a motorcycle that, aptly for a police vehicle, flashes red and blue neon as it tears down the mean streets of Toronto in this first-look film footage.
What will fans see in the video?
Shot by onlooker Mike McPhee on Thursday, Oct. 18 and posted at ComingSoon.net, the footage shows RoboCop in full body armor as he takes off down the street on the bike -- which matches his all-black costume (except for the red and blue flashes). The rider appears to be a stuntman, though it could be The Killing alumnus Joel Kinnaman, who has inherited the starring role played by Peter Weller in the original 1987 film.shots of the costume were released last month. Unlike Weller's suit of heavy, gleaming, metallic body armor, Kinnaman's suit is black and looks lightweight and plastic.
It might make for a more graceful and agile cyborg than Weller's lurching, stomping human tank, but the new armor also looks flimsier and less bulletproof. The new suit does, however, suggest lightness and fleetness, especially when RoboCop is roaring down the road on his bike.
Directed by Jose Padilha, the new RoboCop also stars Gary Oldman, Samuel L. Jackson, Jay Baruchel, Clive Owen, Jackie Earle Haley, Michael Keaton and Jennifer Ehle. The remake is due in theaters on Feb. 14, 2014.
