'Grey's Anatomy' Preview: Time for Some 'Pretty Light Fun' (VIDEO)
The past few episodes of ABC’s Grey’s Anatomy have been a bit heavy, to say the least, as the doctors of Seattle Grace deal with the aftermath of last season’s horrific plane crash which took the lives of Lexie Grey (Chyler Leigh) and Mark Sloan (Eric Dane).
Just in time to keep us from running out of tissues, Thursday’s episode, “I Saw Her Standing There,” which is directed by star Kevin McKidd will take on the much-needed task of lightening the mood.
“It was fun for me [to direct]," he said, "because I usually do the more dramatic stuff so it was really fun to do some far-out comedic storylines."
Thursday’s episode features the return of Doctor Catherine Avery (guest star Debbie Allen) who Richard (James Pickens Jr.) calls on to help him with a complicated procedure. Last time we saw Catherine around, she and Richard were sleeping together, much to the chagrin of her son Jackson (Jesse Williams).
We'll even see the former chief of surgery get a bit spiffy with a new tie when she comes into town.
But of course not everything can be light in the world of Grey’s Anatomy.
Meredith (Ellen Pompeo) will be weary of talking about her surgeries given Derek’s (Patrick Dempsey) current predicament with his hand and Alex (Justin Chambers) and Callie (Sara Ramirez) will face their guilt over Arizona’s (Jessica Capshaw) status as an amputee as she begins to try on prosthetics for her leg.
Grey’s Anatomy airs Thursdays at 8 PM on ABC.
