There’s a new wolf in town on The CW’s The Vampire Diaries.

On Thursday’s episode of TVD, Secret Circle alum Phoebe Tonkin will be rolling into Mystic Falls to pay a visit to her good friend Tyler (Michael Trevino) as werewolf Hayley.

Having helped the hybrid break his sire bond to Klaus (Joseph Morgan), she is sure to ruffle some feathers between one of our favorite couples with her sudden appearance. But don’t worry just yet, Tyler-and -aroline (Candice Accola) fans.

“I think Hayley has bigger priorities than boys at this stage,” Tonkin tells Celebuzz, She acknowledges that “Caroline is obviously threatened when this new girl comes into town that has a history with her boyfriend,” but she assures viewers, “it was an innocent relationship.”

Of Hayley and Tyler, Tonkin says, “They have such a strong bond because of what they went through together when she helped him break the sire bond.” She adds, “Caroline is really suspicious and she has a lot of questions for Tyler about what exactly happened at the Appalachians.”

Season 4 of the show will explore the duo's backstory as well as how the sire bond was broken, though Tonkin says she haven’t filmed any flashbacks yet.

When Hayley, whom Tonkin describes as “free-spirited,” “tough,” and “a bit of a tomboy,” shows up in Mystic Falls, “[she] knows she hasn’t done anything wrong [with Tyler] and she doesn’t really see herself as a threat." As a result, the actress says, “she’s kind of confused as to why Caroline has a problem with her being there."

So why did Hayley really  come to town?

“She’s trying to find some secrets about her past out,” Tonkin teases, adding that Hayley believes Mystic Falls might be the key to unlocking them.

“She has quite an interesting past,” Tonkin reveals. “She didn’t really grow up with parental figures, she kind of just grew up with packs of werewolves. But she’s a good character, she’s got good intentions, but I think her priorities are finding things out about her own family, her past.”

During her time in Mystic Falls, Hayley will also attend the Miss Mystic Falls event on the arm of a character, who she says “wants to stir up a little bit of drama.”

We’ve read that it’s Tyler so we can only imagine what will unfold from that. As for what Hayley thinks of the town’s pageant: “She finds the whole thing quite amusing.”

“Hayley’s kind of out of her depths,” she continues. “She’s a tomboy so to put on a dress and heels like that and watch all these girls try and win a crown is ridiculous to [her].”

While the Australian actress’ role on Vampire Diaries is recurring right now, she says that she’s filmed six episodes thus far with more to come. Tonkin also told us that, in addition to filming scenes with Trevino and Accola, she does have something going on with Morgan’s Klaus. Hmmmm.

And though Tonkin hasn’t yet filmed any scenes with Rebekah (Claire Holt) yet, she is excited to be working on the same show with Holt, one of her BFFs and former co-stars from Down Under.

“Now, we just don’t know how to spend any time apart from each other. We work together, we go home together and it’s really fun,” she laughs. “It’s kind of a crazy coincidence that we ended up on the other side of the world, on the same show again.”

The Vampire Diaries airs Thursdays at 8 PM on The CW.

No offense but she was sort of horrible in Secret Circle, with her accent slipping every other word among other things, and that show ultimately got cancelled so why is the CW recycling her already? Give her a few years to get better at her craft, don't put her on a show that's already got too many characters and intersecting storylines (and it's own share of horrible characters/actors).
