Meat Loaf may have made big headlines on Thursday when he officially endorsed Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney at a campaign rally in Ohio. But it was the singer’s bizarre rendition of “America the Beautiful” that has been making the rounds some 12 hours later.

The singer, 65, delivered quite an off-key performance of the patriotic tune, as Romney and his other musical guests John Rich and Randy Owens tried to carry the song through while keeping a straight face.

Before the song, Meat Loaf, whose real name is Michael Lee Aday, spoke to the crowd of around 10,000 about why Romney is his pick for the next four years.

“There is one man who will stand tall in this country and fight the storm and bring the United States back to what it should be – Governor Mitt Romney!” he said in between his musical set.

America will vote for its next president on Nov. 6.
