One Direction Drops New Single, ‘Little Things,’ Written by Ed Sheeran (VIDEO)
“Little Things” is the group’s second single off their forthcoming sophomore album, Take Me Home. Written by British singer-songwriter — and close friend — Ed Sheeran, the slow-tempo ballad is reminiscent of “Moments,” off One Direction’s debut album, Up All Night.
In fact, the acoustic song sounds more like a B-side off Sheeran’s debut album than a 1D track. With soft melodies and long-winded wordplay, “Little Things” is sure to bring millions of Directioners to tears — especially when Harry Styles sings, “I know you never like the sound of your voice on tape and you never like to know how much you weigh and you still have to squeeze into your jeans but you’re perfect to me.”
But don’t fret, 1D fans: “Little Things” gives each boy bander — Styles, Louis Tomlinson, Zayn Malik, Niall Horan and Liam Payne — a verse to shine.
“I won’t let these little things slip out of my mouth,” the boys harmonize on the chorus over a gentle guitar melody. As for the video, Horan told Radio 1 Breakfast Show Monday morning, “For the video, we just kind of sit around in a studio and act like we’re recording the song.”
