Octomom Nadya Suleman Checks Into Rehab, Rep Confirms

The woman known as Octomom, Nadya Suleman, has checked herself into a 30-day rehabilitation program.

“Nadya admitted herself into the Chapman House Drug Rehabilitation Center in Southern California over the weekend after acknowledging she’s become dependent on Xanax,” Suleman’s rep tells TMZ, “which she began taking to ‘deal with stress.’”

According to the rep, Suleman voluntarily decided to enter the program in order to kick her addiction to the doctor-prescribed anti-anxiety drug.

“Nadya wanted to deal with her issues and make sure she is the best mother she can be,” the rep says.

The mother of the famous octuplets and their six older siblings will be taken care of by three nannies and two friends. As of this time, the site reports that the 37-year-old mother’s parents are not taking part in the care of the children while she’s in rehab.

Suleman came to national fame in January of 2009 after giving birth to the second full set of octuplets to be born alive in the United States. She was soon the subject of ridicule when the public discovered she had six other children at home and was using public assistance.

While Suleman has most recently made her living by starring in a porn film, the rehab center will reportedly treat her for free.

Suleman recently told Celebuzz about doing the porn film and embarking on a music career, which she calling a “fluke.” She recorded her single and shot a video for “Sexy Party.”

As for the affect of the media reports on her kids, Suleman told us they’re “desensitized.”

“We have all been through things together over the years,” Suleman said. “And our experiences allowed all of us to pull out strengths we never knew we possessed.”
