'X Factor' Hosts Khloe Kardashian and Mario Lopez: How Did They Do? (INSIDE STORY)
Despite being Season 2, FOX’s The X Factor had a whole new feel when it went into its first live show on Wednesday.
After months of speculation over who would get the hosting gig and then weeks of contract negotiations, did the duo live up to expectations?
Simon Cowell told reporters this week.
“[Season 1 host Steve Jones] didn’t seem to have an opinion on any of the performances and I think it’s important with hosts that they are allowed to pitch in as well as the judges," Cowell added. "If they disagree with the judges, they’re entitled to say something.”
As far as opinions go, both hosts were a bit light. As expected, Extra and America’s Best Dance Crew host Lopez had an easier time of slipping into the role and the necessary banter while Kardashian seemed to follow his lead. She had previously told Celebuzz that he was there to steer the ship a bit and he definitely took that role.
But, then Kardashian moved to the backstage area and seemed to have a better time playing off the contestants. Having done that, the reality star became more vocal onstage later as an advocate for the performers, pressing the judges to explain exactly what they meant in their critiques. She had Lovato actually name the single performer in
LYLAS 1432 that popped for her. And even put Cowell on the spot, asking him to name the song he would have picked for Willie Jones. That was refreshing.
