Chris Workman is denying claims she abused her daughter, Ariel Winter, the 14-year-old star of Modern Family.

“It’s all untrue, it’s all untrue,” Workman told PEOPLE Monday.

“I have my doctor’s letter that my daughter’s never been abused. … I have stylists’ letters that she’s never been abused,” she added.

According to court papers filed Oct. 3, Winter says she was subjected to “ongoing physical abuse (slapping, hitting, pushing) and emotional abuse (vile name-calling, personal insults about minor and minor’s weight, attempts to ‘sexualize’ minor, deprivation of food, etc.) for an extended period of time” by Workman.

As a result of the claims, a judge granted temporary custody to Winter’s older sister — who allegedly suffered from similar abuse by Workman nearly 20 years ago — and ordered Workman not to come within 100 yards of her daughter.

A follow-up hearing will take place on Nov. 20, according to PEOPLE.

Winter has played Alex Dumphy, the daughter of Claire and Phil, on the Emmy-winning comedy since it premiered in 2009.
