'Silver Linings Playbook' Premiere: Cast and Crew Spill On the 'Emotional and Funny' Adaptation (VIDEO)
"It was very emotional and very funny as I found The Fighter [to be]," the 54-year-old filmmaker told Celebuzz at the movie's premiere in New York City Monday night. "It's what drew me to it."
Despite the heavy subject matter, star Chris Tucker says he had no trouble channeling his serious side for the role.
"I wanted to do something different and new to show another side of me," the Rush Hour actor, 40, told us. "I thought this was a great opportunity with a great director and a great cast to show that different side of me."
Silver Linings Playbook revolves around a former teacher (Cooper) who moves back in with his parents after a stint in a mental institution. The film is due out Nov. 21.
