Beyoncé is giving fans another behind-the-scenes look at her life.

HBO announced on Monday that the singer stars in “an intimate, revealing documentary” airing February 16, 2013.

“HBO has a history of pushing every boundary with class and authenticity,” said Beyoncé. “Some of my favorite shows are on HBO, so I am excited that my film will be part of its bold programming. This film was so personal to me, it had to have the right home.”

The film will feature footage of the 31-year-old singer, entrepreneur, wife and mother, including footage she took on her own laptop. It documents her life behind the scenes as she runs her businesses, prepares for performances and readies herself to return to her career after having her and husband Jay-Z’s baby, Blue Ivy Carter, in January.

The program also looks back on her upbringing in Houston with the help of her family’s home movies.

“Everybody knows Beyoncé’s music, but few know Beyoncé the person,” HBO Programming President Michael Lombardo said. “Along with electrifying footage of Beyoncé onstage, this unique special looks beyond the glamour to reveal a vibrant, vulnerable, unforgettable woman.”

This isn’t the first time Beyonce has allowed cameras to follow her behind the scenes. Most recently, MTV aired Beyonce: Year of 4 last year. And in 2010, she produced the I Am… World Tour documentary DVD.

Several artists have used documentaries to help promote their albums and their brands, including Katy Perry, One Direction and Justin Bieber.
