'DWTS' Finale Recap
What went down during the finale performance episode?
Three stars, one last dance and the journey ends here: After 10 long weeks of shocking eliminations, snarky judges, injuries and of course, amazing dancing, ABC’s Dancing With the Stars Season 15 finale announced the All-Stars season champion!

Kelly Monaco, Shawn Johnson and Melissa Rycroft faced off for the last time on the ballroom floor, and one of these All-Star ladies danced away with the Mirror Ball trophy. The results are well, shocking of course, but in a very good way. And the winner of the Season 15 All-Stars Mirror Ball is…

Note: Spoilers ahead if you didn’t watch Tuesday’s episode.

Melissa Roycroft and partner Tony Dovolani! Sure, everyone thought Olympic gymnast Shawn Johnson would backflip her way to All-Star glory, but she and partner Derek Hough had to settle for second place. Kelly and boyfriend partner Val Chmerkovskiy rounded out the finale in third place. After the instant dances, Melissa was still in the lead from Monday night with a total of 88.5, Kelly with 87.5 and Shawn with 87. These scores were calculated with the viewer votes, awarding Season 8 finalist Melissa her first ever Mirror Ball trophy.

This was also Tony’s first win in 14 seasons of being a Dancing With the Stars pro dancer. Well, token pro no more. Tony deserved this long-awaited win. He’s been given some lemons for partners over the years and was never able to really showcase just what an amazing pro dancer he is. We can’t feel too bad for the runner-ups. Shawn has a trophy from Season 8, and using her comfort zone of gymnastics as a weapon, failed to take any risks on the show aside from some rule breaking. Derek gets the “ringers” every season and has already won three times. Val is still in his infancy as a show pro and has more chances ahead of him to win.

Season 1 winner Kelly didn’t get a trophy, but she got her man! Kelly and Val’s love story was a hit with viewers, but their dancing, not so much a hit with the judges. Kelly was either in the bottom or hovered near it for much of the season. Yet, the viewers pulled them through week after week. And now all their fans care about is where does their love story go from here?

In the words of judge Carrie Ann Inaba, and I can’t believe I am using them, Melissa is the “most graceful dancer with beautiful movements” and certainly deserved her All-Stars Mirror Ball.
