Jay-Z and Beyoncé Cheer on Brooklyn Nets: The Couple’s Best Courtside Moments (GALLERY & VIDEO)
The battle of the boroughs got underway Monday night — and Jay-Z and Beyoncé were front and center.
As the New York Knicks and the newly-christened Brooklyn Nets faced off for the first time this season, the superstar couple was courtside at the Barclays Center. After cheering on the Nets, the Hip-hop mogul Hova — a Nets minority owner — celebrated his team's win in the hometown contest with a little smack talk.
"The city is under new management," Jay-Z posted on Twitter following the Nets' 96-89 overtime victory.
The Brooklyn native and wife Beyoncé weren't the only celebrities in the crowd as the trailblazing Nets won their sixth straight game.
Current and former New York Giants Jason Pierre-Paul, Justin Tuck and Michael Strahan were in the stands; actor Richard Gere was spotted around Barclays; and New York City Mayor Michal Bloomberg also sat front-row to see the first square-off between the rivalrous NBA squads.
Ever since the Nets put down roots in Brooklyn, Jay-Z and Beyoncé have become courtside fixtures at the Barclays Center. For the team's inaugural game in its brand-new arena on Nov. 3, the power couple cheered on the Nets as they took down the Toronto Raptors.
But even before Brooklyn had a home team, the musical superstars were NBA mainstays — mainly at Manhattan's Madison Square Garden. Look back at Jay-Z and Beyoncé's cutest courtside moments from over the years. And find out about their game-day fashions in the video, below.
