Lindsay Lohan has been roundly panned in the media for her portrayal of Elizabeth Taylor in the highly anticipated Lifetime movie, Liz & Dick. But as the actress ducks and dodges her detractors' jabs, she has at least one star supporter in her corner.

"@lindsaylohan you did a beautiful job on Liz & Dick," Lady Gaga tweeted on Monday, the day after Lohan made her return to the small screen. "Let no one bring u down, Liz didnt, they always try to knock the greats down a few pegs."

Lohan appreciated the pat on the back. "Thank you so much," she tweeted in response to the pop superstar. "you are such an incredible force and that means the world to me. Love and hugs hope to see you soon bella."

In the past few months, Lohan and Gaga have struck up a friendship. The actress and singer shared a slumber party — complete with movies and board games — with Lana Del Ray at Los Angeles hotspot Château Marmont in July. Later, Gaga posted snaps of their sleepover — she was decked out in a tiara and pearls, while Lohan posed in a fur coat — on her website, Little Monsters.

In August, Lohan landed a cameo in a video for a song off Mother Monster’s forthcoming third studio album, ARTPOP. And the following month, Lohan showed support for her pal as Gaga launched her latest scent, Fame Eau de Parfum, at a New York City event.

Though she's been roasted in Liz & Dick reviews, Lohan has said she hopes the made-for-TV flick — which pulled in a solid 3.5 million viewers in its Sunday night premiere — will help kick-start her career comeback following years of legal woes. "I hope that my love for acting shows through and that people really see that, and I hope that they enjoy the portrayal. I did the best that I could," she said on ABC's Good Morning America. "I'm in a great place. I just want to move forward. Keep working."

Next year, Lohan is set to take to the silver screen in The Canyons, a Bret Easton Ellis thriller neo-noir. She will also appear alongside Charlie Sheen in Scary Movie 5, hitting theaters on April 19, 2013.

Yea, because when a train wreck seeks redemption and a pat on the back, always go to the weirdo!!! L&D was torture to watch, pure and simple. I got through maybe 5 minutes before I HAD to switch channels, lest my brain explode. IT WAS BAD!!!
