‘Host’ Star Mulling ‘Cinderella’ Role; ‘Star Trek Into Darkness’ Poster Debuts

Disney’s live-action adaptation of Cinderella is closing in on a leading lady. Saoirse Ronan (The Host), Gabriella Wilde (The Three Musketeers) and newcomer Alicia Vikander are in talks to play the Disney princess for director Mark Romanek. This piece of casting news comes on the heels of reports that Cate Blanchett is circling the role of the Evil Stepmother. [Variety]

Warner Bros. superhero team-up film, Justice League, may have found its villain. According to reports (read: rumors), DC Comics staple Darkseid will be the Big Bad terrorizing Superman, Batman and the rest of the Justice League when the film is released in 2015. Stephen King’s latest literary property to get a big-screen adaptation has just added some genre-friendly names to its cast. The Walking Dead’s Carl, aka Chandler Riggs, and Super 8’s Joel Courtney will star in Mercy, an adaptation of King’s creepy short-story “Gramma.” Riggs and Courtney will play brothers who are tasked with caring for their grandmother, who just happens to be a witch.
